Abstract:

AbsractA rare variant of ansa cervicalis was discovered during dissection of the neck in amale cadaver. The superior root of the Ansa cervicalis was formed by the C1 ventralramus. It accompanied with the vagus nerve in place of the hypoglossal nerve and descendedinto the carotid sheath with it. Moreover the C1 ventral ramus formed fromthe sheath and joined the inferior root from C2 and C3 ventral rami.

The Case Report: a Rare Anatomical Variant of Ansa Cervicalis

A rare variant of ansa cervicalis was discovered during routine dissection of the neck in a male cadaver. The superior root of the Ansa cervicalis was formed by the C1 ventral ramus. It fused with the vagus nerve in place of the hypoglossal nerve without any connection and descended into the carotid sheath with it. Then, C1 ventral ramus formed from the sheath and joined the inferior root from ...

A Case Report: Rare Communication of Ansa Cervicalis

During the past few years, researchers and practitioners have developed novel techniques, using ansa cervicalis to innervate muscles of the larynx paralyzed due to surgical procedures carried out in the chest and neck areas. During routine dissection of a middle-age male cadaver, an unusual course of the superior root of the ansa cervicalis was observed. In this case, the su...

A variant case of ansa cervicalis

Ansa cervicalis (ansa cervicalis profunda, ansa nervi hypoglossi) is one of the nerve connections in the human body. Two roots make up the ansa cervicalis –radix superior and radix inferior. Its sources include the ventral rami of the cervical spinal nerves; ansa innervates all infrahyoid muscles except for the thyrohyoid muscle [1,2]. In the past few years, there has been a development in the ...

Schwannoma of the ansa cervicalis

Schwannomas are rare neoplasms that originate from Schwann cells. We present a case report of schwannoma of the ansa cervicalis in a patient where preoperative imaging suggested thyroid pathology. A 25-year-old man presented to the otolaryngology department with a one-year history of an asymptomatic, anterior triangle neck swelling. Imaging and FNA suggested a cystic lesion of the thyroid. Howe...
